WHO WE ARE
Staff from companies work collaboratively in the Land Stewardship Working Group to develop and initiate projects focused on reducing the footprint of in situ oil sands development and accelerating reclamation activities.
We are managing environmental and economic risks in the oil sands by protecting ecological integrity and assuring sustainable landscapes through the use of integrated and synergistic approaches to reclamation.
STRIVES TO…
Reverse the decline of wildlife species of concern.
Reduce our landscape footprint.
Create innovative land stewardship tools and technologies.
Address forest fragmentation.
Protect ecological integrity.
Accelerate reclamation activities.
WHAT WE DO
We have several projects underway aimed at reducing and mitigating the industry’s overall environmental impact, while improving habitat protection for area wildlife. Our projects include using innovative geospatial modeling tools and planting trees and shrubs to increase diversity and speed the return of disturbed lands to a natural state. These projects help us understand how reforestation and reclamation work undertaken today will impact future forests and wildlife habitat.
